Resource gatherer lookdev explorations by 3d artist and designer John Niehuss during his work on Joe Kosinski's film 'Oblivion' in 2012.

While at Digital Domain in 2012 one of my early tasks on Joe Kosinski’s Oblivion was lookdev and asset work and I did the lookdev in maya / vray on the resource gatherer. Part of the challenge was conveying the scale of the structure and dialing in the proper reflection and response to light for something this massive. For reference I used images of NASA construction hangars.
