3d, Games, Tech
While at Buck in 2014 we worked with Zynga to create some exploratory style-frames and overall design guidance for their forthcoming Farmville 2 release. The original frame involved visualizing their Farmville world as a scale minature – bringing a real-world tactile aesthetic (complete with depth of field, GI, ray-cast shadows and more realistic shaders) to Farmville that would stoke further discussion. Ultimately, through the iterative process, we trended back towards a more cartoony mobile-capable look.
I led the 3d effort on this project and modeled and laid out the scene, textured it, shaded it, lit it and rendered it. We used Modo for this project and I made good use of Modo’s instancing feature to place various elements. The hair-system fields of grass and the final comp of rendered elements were done by Alex Dingfelder.
